Ok I have crunched the numbers already and have sourced parts from the far and distant lands: Ok here are the specs I am looking at. 3" OD(2 7/8 ID) piping with all mandrel bends, K&N cone filter, and all the couplings and brackets to bolt it up to your car for less than the CP intake.(Shipping and price uppon request VIA PM)

I need about a week to get ahold of my father which wil help me finish off the product and take some pictures of it installed. You may have to do some trimming of metal to make it fit but nothing major. I can have it rubber coated or painted for a couple extra if you want or add the air pump breather filter if you still have the air pump attatched.

Now is the time to show your interest. I will be testing in on my car when I finish it and I will take pictures and give you guys my oppinion on the feel of the car before and after. Note: this doesn't include the AFM adapter but you can find one and have it shipped to you for less than having it shipped to me then you so I think that is a better option.

You would have to tell me how it does in the rain, seeing as I live in Washington, thats like 80% of the time and getting water up there would suck...I would probably end up buying one from you though.

 

I live in Texas and it don't rain a lot. If it does while testing is taking place then I will post what problem and any good ideas on how to fix.

Introver I am pertty sure not enough water can get in the system to fudge it up but I can see what happens in the rain with my prototype. If it messes up I will make a deflector for the filter or somehing.

count me in for the group buy, if i like what i see when you get some pics up. but i still dont understand how your gonna fit a 3" tube ANYWHERE in the area of the intake without having to cut at the body or anything else.

Please remember that you need some long term testing to find out how rubber couplers, clamps, brackets, finish and everything else holds up under real-world conditions. The engine bay is a harsh environment, and HEAT is going to be a major problem...A metal pipe in the engine bay is going to seriously heat soak.

 

I understand Aaron. The first one to be made will indeed be for me and I will have it on my car for testing in this Texas summer heat and we have been getting some heavy rains for some odd reason. So it will get pounded on for sure. I may just buy some intercooler couplers from the RX7store.net I think those are silicone. Bad thing is they cost about 14 dollars plus anothe couple to ship each.

as for the piping I will probably ruber dip it or have some high temp paint go on it to protect from rust.

Use epoxy paint and primer... we use them em on Airplanes in the AF so Id assume they can withstand a little rotary engine high temp...

 

Ok well the parts are on the way from my sources. What kind of test would you all like to see? I am obviosly going to report the difference in accelaration if any and the butt dyno results It don't rain much But if it does I can tell you all how it works in wet conditions. BTW I am not going to drive into a river and see if I get water in the engine. You all are idiots if you think the filter would get water that far in it.

Hmm a ceramic coating I haven't thought of that but it sounds like $$$ so that is a maybe. I am thinking just high temp paint.

I doubt that a layer of High-temp paint will shield the forces of the heat given of by the rotary. High-temp paint is truely made to prevent blemishes from tempatures.

 

wtf the intake will be pretty much away from the engine and heat sources. The only hot thing what will be near it is the radiator and only for about 3 inches of the pipe.

The stock air tube is pretty decent. Metal tubing is more pratical in force induction, fact being that the air will be cooled by an intercooler of some sort. Be prepare to dyno what you design. Especially after a good run around the block or two.

Well I can try and get a thermometer that reads with infared and check it out. In any case the intake manifold is hotter than the AFM anyways so the air already goes through hot *** metal. This will surely not be a hot as say the LIM.

last I checked, plastic isn't that great of a heat conductor.
