Agent D is right. The whole "cold air" concept is for the piping to be farthest away from the engine as possible, because the engine heats up the pipe, and heats up the air in the pipe. So, if the pipe isn't going over the hottest spot on the engine, you're gonna get colder air, hence, cold air intake. It doesn't mean you're pulling in cold air like it's winter time and 42 degrees out side. But it is colder than the engine.
