Coilover install help (HKS Hypermax II)

I've never installed coilovers and have a few questions (just got these today, like new).
Which side is left and which is right or doesn't it matter?
Does it matter which way the top mounts face in the rear?
On the bottom mount, does the spacer that sticks out more face the tire or the middle of the car (rear side)?
What are the two metal rings they gave you for?
With no brake bracket in the front what do you do? Just leave the lines attatched to nothing?
Which way should the gas charge port face on the rear?
Can you get an alignment before corner weighting or must that be done first?
And, where can I get an extra adjustment ****/allen screws (missing the ones for the end of the extensions)

On the front, you'll want to put them in so that the slot on the camber plate is further towards the inside, and if they're asymmetrical side to side, then mount them so that the slot is further to the back.

You can use zip ties to secure the brake lines, but don't tie them around the spring, just the shock body.

It shouldn't matter in the rear which way the mounts face (aren't they symmetrical?). I'd mount the gas charge ports to the side that's easiest to access.

I don't know about the spacer on the bottom, my thought would be thicker in, to accomodate the angle change when the wheel moves up and down.

You can corner weight and align in either order, as long as with either one you're not changing things too much it shouldn't affect the other that much. I'd prefer to corner weight first though.

If you show pics of the rings someone might know what they're for. I'd call HKS USA about the ****.

Thanks, you were the one that was interested in buying these too right? I just got them yesterday and got talked into keeping them instead of the Stance. I hope I don't regret that. I was going to send a pm but you know how new parts are I'm sure. I put the rears on right away and then spent all day today trying to find some instructions, still planned on sending one when I had time. Hope you find a deal on some, I think there was some Tein RA's for 1200 with 5k on them on here.

Anyway, I figured out what the rings were (extra spacers for the rear shocks) doh! I just scuffed them up a little bit I think by not having those on and driving to work.

Cool, cause it'll be easier to find an alignment place around here first.

So zip ties are good enough? Looking at the instructions they're supposed to come with a clamp that has a bracket on it. Just one zip tie? Oh well that can get me by anyway.

Thanks for the help, any idea what the point of the gas charge is? Like are you supposed to check it every once and a while and get it filled if it's not a certain number or is it just there for easier rebuilding?

Thanks for the help, were you the one interested in these? I just got them at 5pm yesterday and you know how new toys for the car are...... I got talked into keeping them over the Stance and hope I don't regret that (not double height adjustable). Was going to pm as soon as I got a chance (been looking for install instructions plus work.) I did see some Tein RA's for 1200 on here from iggydrift.

Cool, I see the instructions show a hose clamp with a special bracket (which I was missing) but zipties can at least get me by, just one per brake line? It'll still slide forward/backward won't it? Just worried about breaking the hard line, the other is stainless wrapped non-dot hose, hehe.

Yeah, I just remembered seeing on a 3rd gen they put facing out and it busted by hitting a piece of suspension. These are on the front or back side so shouldn't matter but just asking to be safe.

That's what I was thinking and the stock shock had the thicker side in too. I found the rings in the manual I found (Higgi's site) and they were supposed to be a spacer for the rear shocks doh! Why have an extra spacer when they already have a built in spacer? Must use them on a couple different cars but who knows what would have the same bottom mount anyway?

Cool, cause it might take awhile to find some scales around here.

Are you supposed to check the gas pressure like a tire or is it just there for easier rebuilds?

Yea, that was me, oh well.

The valve's mostly for rebuilds, but you can do some tuning with pressure. DON'T check it, it'll blow your gauge unless it's a 300psi+ gauge and you'll adversely affect the pressure in the shock, since there's so little gas there and when you check, you let some out.

If there's an official braket for the lines then that's best, but some tie wraps should be ok, all it has to do is keep it in place so it doesn't hit anything, if there's SS braided line I'd wrap it in a split piece of tube to keep it from filing off the paint and metal of the shock.

Thanks again, I'll have to give HKS a call later about the parts. There was also a guy on nopistons.com with some Koni Yellow's for $250 and I don't think they are sold yet. Hope you find a deal on something, and when you do I would try and make something like the HKS adjuster for the rear. It's one of those why didn't I think of that things or why doesn't anyone else do it. They have a couple held on with allen screws (I'm missing one) and a piece of spring steel (not sure if that's what it's called) inside a sheath like a bike brake or clutch cable. You drill a small hole for that to come out the shock tower and then put a plastic adjuster **** on it (which I'm missing both of, can't complain for the price just hope I can get.) Sure beats taking the speakers out if you have those, thought I was going to have to find a track/street middle ground for the rear.

I figured it was a servicing thing but ya never know. I'll have to look up out of curiosity how an adjustable damper works, the **** turns like there isn't anything hooked to it so i don't know how it could stiffen it.

Hope you find a deal on something you like. I was looking forever and actually settled on the Tokico's for now and of course found the HKS 2 days later after I already commited to buying on here :\

As she sits now (while I was waiting to see how the brake lines worked) 8 clicks from soft on the rear HKS and front Tokicos both 3/4" drop and obviously not a good idea, should have waited. But it's the ultimate drift setup, hehe........what the H was that noise? Oh....the front tire rubbing something. Then to top it off we got snow and salt trucks out today The winter beater AWD Talon died on me (no spark) so the 7 has been out for 3 weeks now.
