Coil overs Struts

Well, I am pretty sure I am going to get a Megan Racing® MR-CDK-MRX86-EZII - EZ II Series Front and Rear Coilover Kit for my 1987 RX7 coupe. Has anyone ever installed these and if so are you happy with them. Thanks.

i have no experience with them, but most coilovers perform harshly. my HKS Hiper-D coilovers are probably in part why i have back and neck issues now. if you drive on the street, coilovers(any of them) kinda suck.

personally i miss my KYB AGX with Tein springs, they offered the best of both worlds when comparing performance to comfort, but now it costs about $1000 to build a set compared to $400 for cheap coilovers. My HKS aren't cheap, probably still the most expensive coilovers you can buy for an FC.

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with the Megan Racing coil overs. When I was looking for coilovers I ended up going with these. RedShift Competition 1W Coilovers 1986-92 Mazda RX-7 (FC3S) [N-06-COMP – RedShiftMotorsports They are more than double the price of the Megan but are supposed to be meant for racing. They have been great. That's all they had for the FC at the time. They do have a street version now but I can't say anything about them. RedShift Street Custom Coilovers 1986-92 Mazda RX-7 (FC3S) [N-06-STREE – RedShiftMotorsports
Both of them start as a BC Racing coilover that they take apart and re-valve to their specs.

From my very limited experience it depends on the coilover as too how bad they are on the street. It may be that all off the shelf ones are harsh and beat you to death. I was worried about this very issue when I started this thread a couple years back. Any Coilovers livable on the street. - RX7Club.com - Mazda RX7 Forum I ended up finding theRedshift Competition ones mentioned above and went with them. Due to some of the spring rate talk in that thread and my conversations with Redshift I went with 6k/ 4k spring rates for the street. I have been very happy with them and they haven't beat me to death. They do ride rougher than stock, but most(not all) things aren't bone jarring. That said I can imagine the 8k/ 6k springs most off the shelf coil overs come with must be pretty bad.

Here is a Grassroots Motorsports article about them. Too good to be true? Custom-built coil-overs at off-the-shelf prices | Articles | Grassroots Motorsports.
I would recommend if you don't have the money now to hold off and keep saving until you can get a more custom coilover that has been re-valved. From my limited experience and what I've read online it is a better option.
