Code 17 (feedback system) and smoke at startup

Ok guys here are the problems that I encountered today. First my CEL went on, turned out to be for the feedback system. I understand what can cause that. The smoke at start up is what gets me. I turned the car on and it puffed some smoke then went away for about 30sec then came back until the car finally warmed up and I left school. By the time I got to my apartment it was not smoking anymore. Any ideas guys? My only thought is a leak in the turbo somewhere that seals back up when it warms up.

Code 17 is a problem with the wire between the ECU and the O2 sensor.

When I got the code it turned out to be a break in the wire that goes to the O2 sensor in the wire harness. I just ran a new wire from the sensor...drilled a small hole in the fire wall and ran that wire to the ECU.

Worked just fine.

That code from what I understand usually comes up after a few codes pop up. I got it when I needed a new air flow meter, oil metering pump, and an idle air control valve....I got rid of it by grounding out some wire....I forgot what wire was loose...it was somewhere on the passanger side of the engine bay....but yeah...those are my .02 cents...dunno if it helps....

Any ideas about the smoke, seems to go away after the car has been driven for a decent amount of time.

Smoke on startup is normal, as long as it's a small amount, as oil is laying in the chambers. The 17 code-Wankel7 hit it on the nose. I had that code 4 years ago after I had KD install a new engine. I wanted to find the break, so I dug into the harness and did the fix, but you're tinkering with a shielded covering. You cannot have any of that shield come in contact with the splice, or it will take the signal to ground. That is why a lot will just go from the sensor to the ecu through the firewall.
Just drive it and check the oil consumotion.
