Code 17 but everything is okay? The wha?

Replaced all the belts today and went to adjust the tps for this year and when I jumpered the check connector, the ECU started bitching about code 17. The car runs fine and the check engine light doesn't come on while I am driving. I am seriously confused.

Code 17 = no oxygen sensor feedback after 15 seconds.

Maybe its just an old code being stored and everything is fine?

Clear the code out and run the car. Then see if the code shows up again. O2 sensor issues are not overly common, but make sure the O2 sensor is properly connected.

I think it's possible for the ECU to falsely indicate an error code for the sensor if the engine is cold but it's more important if the same code is shown w/the engine hot.

Well, so much for clearing it. Before I had a chance to do that, I drove to long john silvers to get dinner for the family and the transmission got stuck in reverse.

I know the trick to fix that, but I am going to just rebuild the damn thing. It already has a crunchy 3rd gear synchro and the intermediate shaft bearing wines. Going to be replacing all the bearings, synchros and shift fork/linkage. Yay, bye bye money!
