Clutch switch is working .. however pedal is not engaging it far enough

I read the FSM and adjusted the pedal to what I believe to be spec. However the pedal is still not engaging the clutch switch .. and I have to manually push it in with my finger (after doing a contortion act underneath the dash) so the car thinks the clutch is engaged.

Suggestions on how to fix it? My first though is to put a shim or two behind the safety switch, but I didnt get a good look at the back of it so I don't know how possible that exactly is.

thanks

The safty switch has to be extended to alow the car to start. If the clutch is not pressing it all the way then you shouldn't have an issue.

Im guessing you want the car to NOT start without the clutch being pressed? If so, the switch is adjustable. From what I remember the switch has one nut and you loose that nut and unscrew the switch a little to bring it closer to the pedal and retighten the nut.

So, what you're saying is that the car will start whether you have the clutch pedal down or not?

Sounds like you adjusted the pedal, but did not adjust the clutch switch. The switch is also adjustable. It has a jam nut, which you need to loosen, then (after you unplug the connector) turn the switch to adjust it's position.

Remember to leave a little slack in your pedal or you could wear out the throwout bearing.
