Unhappy Clutch Stuck Engaged... Help Please!

Hey, I was just taking my 91 vert over to my friends house, and I came to a stop sign. It seemed to have been shifting funny all night- it would only go into gear once the RPMs got real close to where they should have been for the next gear. Once I came to that stop sign I tried to shift it into first from a stop and the car just lunged forward and died. When I tried to start it with the clutch pedal in, it lunged forward- so I stopped trying to do that. The shifter is stuck in first, I haven't tried too much pressure, but even when the car is off, the shifter won't come out of first, clutch pedal in or out.

The clutch is hydraulic right? Does this just mean the hydraulics went out?

Can anyone diagnose this problem and give me an estimate for repair? Thanks.

I'd imagine so- I don't think the car was leaking anything. Car is pretty far from where I'm at right now so I can't check. I did get the clutch disengaged if I turn off the car, put the pedal in, and pull the stick just a little bit harder than normal into neutral. It won't shift at all when the car is on however. This means the clutch is bad doesn't it? =/

Don't worry, it is not as bad as you think! Get in the car, key off, and try to shift into any gear without the clutch. Now, do the same thing, with the clutch in. Any difference? If no difference, then look behind the steering wheel, and adjust the big nut behind it. If there is a difference, add fluid .

Yep there was a difference. I checked the fluid this morning and it was almost on the bottom line- unfortunately my parents had already called in a tow truck, so I don't have time to give it any more fluid. Guess I'll know what's really wrong by tomorrow. =/ Thanks for the help everyone.

Check for fluid leaks, though id think if your fluid was low then the pedal would go to the floor and not come back up.
