Clutch Recommendation for N/A tranny/ turbo engine..

I need to buy an upgraded clutch disk for a NON turbo pressure plate, BUT that can handle turbo power... Untill I source the tranny-back from a turbo model I need to run the N/A parts that are in the swap coupe... I need to find a disk that will fit in a stock pressure plate yet handle all 220hp..

Help... I am looking on Mazdatrix website but realized I don't know what I am doing...

stage 3 6 pluck sprung clutch does wonders. Get it from a good company. I have a zoom stage 3 in the car. It handled boost really well. It's also a plus it being Kevlar.

But act, spec, clutch master, exedy, have all good clutchs. But they all vary in prices. Kevlar clutchs go back to the same form after heating up. It doesn't burn up like organic clutch's. Correct me if I'm wrong.

A stock replacement from Autozone works just fine...if you don't know what you're doing, you likely won't really be able to appreciate the difference between a stocker and a big fancy $400 setup.

Well "not knowing what i am doing" was a loose term... I have driven/built highly modified FC's plus the Autocross miata.... The difference is I have never tried to run N/A driveline and actually planning ahead.... Well except on my Vert.. But that was just a 6 port conversion....

Basically I need to know if I can upgrade the disk on a Stock Pressure plate.. I have a new Turbo clutch but just dont have the driveline stuff yet and don't want to miss out on driving the car while I wait.

Are the NA and turbo flywheels the same diameter? I thought the turbo flywheel was larger, which would cause issues with the starter engaging the ring gear using a NA tranny. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You cannot use the N/A transmission with the Turbo Flywheel and clutch... Not sure why, but I would assume it was splines matching up on the transmission/clutch.

Most clutch catalogs list the torque rating. Example:

Yes, to a certain point.

... which is why he is using the NA flywheel, not the TII flywheel.

SPiN Racing modified my TII bell housing so that it can use either a NA or TII flywheel/starter combo. Of course, the NA flywheel is the better option due to the lower inertia and diverse racing options, but it is nice to have a choice.

The TII flywheel is too big to fit into the smaller NA bell housing. The NA and TII clutches have different splines.

Oh, the stock pressure plate works fine with an aftermarket clutch. After 380hp (giver take, guessing) it will be time to upgrade to a new pressure plate, because I don't believe the stocker will hold up anymore. For the "clamping" you want.
