Clutch question

Hey guys real quick:

I have a stock N/A 88 convertible and need to replace the clutch.

Before dismantling my tranny, what size is it? There are two clutch sizes out there and i want to buy the right one: one clutch is 8.5" and the other is 9". I don't want to take down my tranny and then figure it out (it is my primary means of transportation).

Thanks for your help!!!!

go to an auto parts store(autozone) and tell them what car you have, and they will tell you what size you need. or give them a call if you don't want to leave the house. I got mine there, and they made it easy.

^ Hey Smith, I'm Kevinsino's sister and I've been trying to get the Clutch down in Miami to take it up to him in Panama City cause it's cheaper here.

Thing is ALL the auto parts store's my dad and I have called all say there are 2 different sizes for an 88 RX7. It kinda sucks because one told us we wont be able to find out which size is currently on the car, until it's removed.

Trying to get this all figured out so I can take it up there for him. Maybe I'll go by Autozone on my lunch break or something and see what they say.

THANKS!

The only ones that should be different are the n/a and Tii. the Tii of course being the bigger one.

The stock clutch size for the 88 N/a is 225mm or 8.86 inches.

From Mazdatrix:

NOTE: Excluding the TURBO, all the different flywheels and clutches, from 74 through 92, are basically divided by 215mm clutch (74-82), and 225mm (83-92), then by rear counterweight needed for the engine. We mix and match these all the time. This means if you want to put the larger diameter clutch assembly on a pre-83 application, just let us know - it is no problem. You just need to remember what diameter you have when you next purchase clutch parts.
