clutch pedal stays against floor after changing motor mounts

So I just changed my motor mounts. I go to start my car, push the clutch pedal in and it gives no resistance as it goes against the floor and stays there. Anything I might have busted while jacking up the engine? An attempt to start the car revealed that it is still in gear.

Please help it's my only car.

Eh, nevermind, a look through the haynes manual revealed it's no simple matter, at least if I want to be driving soon. I'm already having my car towed. Sorry for the forum clutter.

Ya, clutch cylinder, that's what the mechanic said, since he already changed my clutch a few months ago. Haynes manual said a broken fork or release bearing, which is unlikely unless he did a lousy job.

Another possibility is a leaking clutch hose, you may have damaged that when you jacked up the engine. I had a slow leak from mine and before I fixed it, if I didn't top it up regularly all the fluid would leak out it'd go to the floor and stay there.

^^Agree with black91n/a - look for damaged line between the clutch master and the slave - I'd suspect when you replaced the motor mounts you may have crushed or broken the line in the process of lifting or jacking the motor.

D'oh, it's already at the mechanic. Hopefully he won't charge much if it's the hose. But I did check my fluid level and it was full; never has gone down in years for that matter. Didn't see a puddle on the ground either. If a hose broke would I have seen that? Called the mechanic and the cell phone reception was bad, but I think he said it wasn't the hose. Also turns out replacing a clutch cylinder wouldn't have been hard or time consuming. But oh well.

I am gonna bet that you jacked the engine up and busted the slave cylinder up against the firewall...
Just out of curiosity,Post up what went wrong, once you find out.Ok?

If it is a shot clutch master cylinder or slave make sure to replace both at the same time. In my experience if one goes the other is not far behind. No sense breaking down twice with the same problem. Change them both and be done with it. Change the hose too while its apart.

Mechanic replaced the slave and master cylinder. Dunno if I broke it, but seems plausible. I did hear something pop, but it sounded more like plastic than metal so I figured the fan shroud was bending or something. And wth, I lifted the motor barely enough to remove the mounts, and the Haynes manual gave no warnings about busting stuff. Is there a better way to do it?
