Clutch pedal - how to make it shorter ...

The clutch on my 90 GXL is kinda long (74K miles and orig clutch) and it takes a LOT of force to depress it. sorry if I am sounding like a wimp but is there any way to make it shorter and softer? is there something I can lubricate?
TIA

I just did the clutch, master and slave cylinder on my '88 gtu

thinking originally it was the master cylinder(turned out to be just the clutch) I changed that first. What a difference so smooth and a lot softer but still a good engage feel

This is easy to replace as well as inexpensive as far as parts go total $60 for new master $15 for slave rebuild kit.

There is also an adjustment bolt on the clutch pedal shaft
