clutch not disengaging

I've an 87 gxl. When I push the clutch pedal down, it will not disengage.

Several months ago, my throwout bearing was "whirring" when I'd disengage the clutch. Recently this noise went away and all was good until yesterday. Yesterday something started to make a gurgle/rattle noise whenever the clutch was disengaged, but it still disengaged just fine. It acted up none other than the noise.

Today it decided to not disengage. Occasionally, if I force it into reverse, it will then let me shift into 1st. After in 1st, I can normally shift up and down through the gears untill I stop the car. At which point I'd have to force it into reverse again, and start over. After a couple stops, it quit letting me shift up while on the road. So I had to tow it.

I checked my fluid, its good. Pedal pressure is normal. Bled the system at teh Slave Cyl. No change. Linkage after the slave cyl(going into the bell housing) moves.

Anyone know what the deal is?

hey

thats the same exact problem i had with my car. I am not sure if you did this but adjust the bolt behind the clutch pedal so that the play distance, from when the pedal actually starts to engage the clutch to when its fully engaged, is changed. this worked for me.

That's bad... if the slave cylinder is moving all the way, and the clutch isn't disengaging, the throwout fork may be broken/bent.

It's probably time to pull the transmission & take a look at stuff. Or pull the engine, whichever is easier.
