Clutch issue(s)

I have a few clutch issues with my NA, and before I drop the gearbox off I'd like to get an idea of potential causes.

I get judder when pulling away, its not too bad, but its still quite annoying.
When down shifting at any decent speed its smooth, but when down shifting at lower speeds, say from 3rd into 2nd at residential street kind of speeds I get a really bad judder when releasing the clutch. Its far worse than when I pull away, its enough to shake the car.

Another weird thing is that the clutch won't hold the car on a hill if I leave it in gear with the engine off. (Which is bad because the hand brake isn't working very well) It will hold on a very gentle incline, anything over and it slips.

There is no slipping when accelerating though.

The car has a receipt for the clutch friction disc being changed last year, and its done 800 miles since then. No mention of anything changed other than the friction plate.

My current thinking is possibly release bearing?

Shudder is probably bad bushings like the trans mount, engine mounts, and differential mount.

Clutch not holding the car in gear is lack of compression, not necessarily bad in a rotary. They just don't have as good of a slow compression as piston engines.

A weak clutch will slip in higher gears and not as much in lower (added torque to push the higher ratio).

Thanks, I should probably get the compression tested, it starts first time hot and cold.

I've suspected the diff mount for a while as I have a good bit back lash when I come on and off the throttle, but every time I've been under to move it seems rock steady.

Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and drop it out.

the other possibility is the flywheel isn't machined flat, if it was resurfaced when the disc was replaced

who the heck replaces a clutch and not the pressure plate??

I can only assume that they couldn't find a full kit. FC parts are essentially impossible to buy new in the UK now. I've ended up having to get all my bits from Rock Auto and pay ridiculous import taxes on them.

It will all be coming out in a few months to swap across to my other chassis, so just making a list of what I need to be checking when I do it.
