clutch hydraulics question??!!
whats up guys, i was wondering if one of you could help me out with a situation i have here
I have recently installed a new master and slave cylinder on my clutch and i'm having problems. It seems like the clutch is losing fluid after a few uses and especially when i sit at a light or something with the clutch in. What i mean is that the clutch will engage real close to the floor and the pedal won't come up all the way. The weird thing is that once i lift the pedal off the flor it works fine, and i check the fluid level and its fine, no leaks anywhere. does anyone know what my problem is? I bled the clutch on 3 separate occasions and i don't know if that is still the problem? Please someone WHO KNOWS what they are talking about get back to me and let me know.
If i'm a retard and didn't explain this well ask me questions and i'll answer them.
thanks guys
Craig

The rubber line between the master cylinder and the slave cylinder commonly leaks. You can't always see the crack unless its under pressure. Its pretty cheap to just replace it with an ss line.

Did you order the master and slave off the internet?
Did you throw the old ones away?
There is a nipple in the base of each cylinder that the flared end is supposed to fit against. You have to take it out of the old one.
Look at your cylinders where the line connects and see if they look shiny.
Also, does the line fit tightly?
Last, is the rubber part of the line cracked or "crumbly"? Then it needs to be replaced. They are fairly cheap.

no they are both new....
the line looks perfect and there is no leaking fluid. The clutch works fine if i just push it in , shift , and then let it out. But if i hold the clutch down it loses pressure and it engages close to the floor and i have to lift up the pedal from the ground, but once i lift it it works fine, i don't have to pump it or anything. I have no clue what it could be

If it loses pressure when you hold it down, and you are not seeing any leaks anywhere, it's pointing to a defective master cylinder, leaking INTERNALLY. The fluid gets past the primary piston seal and moves behind it. When this happens, the "lost" fluid is returned to the master's reservoir. So,...It acts the same as it would if the leak were EXTERNAL, but no fluid is lost. A brake master leaking internally would act in a similar way. The pedal would go to the floor when held down, but no fluid would be lost. Hope this helps.
