clutch had me scared
At work 10 to 15 min before I get off the clock go out to my car start it up pull it up front shut the lights off and pull the e brake up
Then I go in side finish my stuff my replacement gets there go out side hop in car get ready to leave clutch is traveling to the floor pretty easily
I think to my self maybe its because its cold well I stop at a gas station get a couple packs of smokes come back to my car and check my fluids only to find that the sides of the clutch fluid container are stained and it is actually out of fluid (started freaking out thinking o crap what’s broke know)
Got in my car got to Wally world and got some fluid put it in pedal is stiffer shut car off checked it again looks ok
Got back in my car got half way home checked it again looks to be the same as it was after I filled it
Drove the rest of the way home and it was fine
But I’m wondering how I went from a firm clutch pedal to practically no clutch pedal and know it's seaming mediocre (I cant remember what it was like before it ran out of fluid)
I’m not sure it might be that I 'm blowing the firmness out of proportion or if I have a possible problem
I could not find any leaks
If any one wants to clue me in on if it was just out of fluid or if some thing could have happened that would be great
And if any one know/understands how are hydraulic clutches work from the moment you push the pedal in to the moment you let off the pedal (I’m interested in understanding how the whole thing works so that I have a better understanding of what happened)

Time for a new clutch master cylinder.
Any dark tint in the fluid or reservoir is worn off rubber from the piston cup seal.
The fluid leaks out the pedal end & soaks into the carpet pad.

Since the fluid level went all the way down, you've probably gotten air in the line. You could try just pumping the clutch pedal about 20 or so times and it may build up normal pressure again. That worked for me. If that doesn't work, you'll have to bleed the system to get the air out. The bleeder valve is located on top of the slave cylinder.

don't pump it like 20 times, all that does is spread out your pocket of air into a million bubbles which still compress. Air compresses, fluid cannot compress. You should probably bleed the system properly. Also if it is cold outside the seals could possibly contract causing leakage.
Thats why changing the clutch and brake fluid are both regular maintenance.
Turbonut, you know he's talking about clutch and not brakes right?
