Exedy is a OEM type clutch, so if you are looking for a daily driver clutch, then thats the one for you. ACT makes different clutches for different levels of performance. Some retain their streetability, while others are more difficult to drive on the street because they clamp instantly with no slippage. This can be annoying in stop and go traffic.

If your car is near stock, you can pretty much use any clutch. I heard many people being happy with Exedy and they're CHEAP. I'm using an ACT 6 puck copper unsprung and it was a BITCH to drive in traffic but soon got used to it. It doesn't wear out the flywheel as bad as some think so. You just can't keep slipping the clutch.

Nick_X so which way are you going? I have a N/A with only a couple of mods, but don't think that the stock clutches are very good.

The Ebay prices are pretty good, the best that I have seen for that ACT unit is $290, don't know about the Exedy, but at $110 how good can it be?

I have an Exedy in my car right now, the last one lasted less then 10K miles, this one is at 8k miles and it feel a little soft already

That's why I was looking at the ACT units.

Here is my post:

i dunno.... act sounds good and all... and i remember when i first got my rx7, it engaged instantly, which i loved... and from what you people say, act engages instantly... but the most im gonna do from that car is go from 160hp to 200hp max.... so i dunno if i feel like spending the extra 300bucks on something that i really have no use for,, seems pointless to me.. inless you people can give me good reasons why i should

whatever you do DON'T buy the Rotary Performance stock replacement clutch! It SUCKS *****!!!!!! Has chattered and slipped from the first drive. rechecked everthing and it still is getting worse. I recomend the ACT Street/strip disc with maybe the Heavy Duty pressure plate. A bit stiffer pedal but very nice engagement.(doesn't break your neck!)

ahahaha... so it wont break my neck <----funny. i take it youre refering to how we move forward when we shift... i think thats funny, whenever i shift i see the passengers shooting forward.. when i first baught my car, people would actually comment on how it feels like an automatic, i guess there was a nice clutch in there, it engaged instant. i dunno if i wanna spend the extra 300 for this feature though

I ordered up an ACT kit, ZX2-HDSS, decided that the 'Xtreme' kit ZX2-XTSS might be a little too harsh for a daily driver.

I don't want everything else behind the clutch taking too much punishment
