In the middle of my shifting issues, I have heard grumblings that the TII style TOB is superior is design, and is an upgrade to the NA style.

Now, there is a difference, and the B2600 that was int he car (the bell housing I am using) is identical to the NA. The TII TOB is more compact that the NA-as in the total vertical height is less. This in theory would give me less engagement than the NA, but would be a stronger design as less of the lip that contacts the pressure plate is exposed.

Anyone else confirm/deny this theory?

Hm... logically sounds like it works, but i dont see why no one talks about it if it does work, i mean a tob isnt expensive, and if i knew about this i would be flippin pissed cos that means i did all this crap with my clutch.. and used a weaker tob ;[ lol

 

Mazdatrix has the same part numbers for S5 T/O Bearings (N/A or Turbo) but has different T/O Bearings for S4 (N/A or Turbo)

If you think about it,the Throw-out Bearing's Function is only to apply Pressure to the Pressure plate While allowing the Transmission Shaft to move.It In My Opinion,has Nothing to Do With Horsepower.So,with that Statement said,It shouldn't really matter if the Bearing is the Same for TII or N/A.(by the way,I Just got a Bearing Today..it is the SAME Part # as the N/A..,and Yes,I would Agree with you that I wouldn't Mind a Tougher Bearing IF I had a TII..just for the "ease of mind".)

 

All the parts stores I called showed a different part number-and I have both here. They are physically different.

Its not a HP issue directly- but since higher HP cars require higher torque capacity clutches (which often include heavier pressure plates that WOULD benefit from having a tougher throw out bearing) it indirectly is related to HP.
