Clutch buying question
Ok, I'm just about ready to start buying stuff for my auto->manual conversion, and I want to get a nice clutch. I've been looking at Centerforce, and I was wondering if the Dual Friction produces a great enough performance difference for the price over the Centerforce I. Or is there a different clutch that's better for not too much over the price of the Dual Friction centerforce clutch?

hmmm... who makes kevlar clutches?
Rxmfn7: well, I plan on it being a month or 2 before I can save up the money (and have time) to do the conversion, but if you don't sell them by the time I'm ready to start buying, maybe....

I got a centerforce DF clutch and my previous clutch was a ACT heavy duty disk with Street disk... let me tell you the centerforce blows the ACT out of the water... anyone that had a CFDF clutch and it rides like **** is prolly cuz they installed it wrong or didnt follow the break in procdure let me tell you 5100 rpms launches 8 in a row and this clutch is still happy

Yours is the first negative comment I've ever heard about ACT. And I've heard many times about problems with Centerforce though. I have no experience yet, but when I go to buy one it will definitely be an ACT.

I've got an ACT S/S clutch in my TII (34% stiffer PP). That thing is sweet! Perfect / smooth engagement, easy to modulate, and it grabs when you want it to.
Great stuff!

Yea, youll get a stiffer peddle but most dont recomend a clutch like that for street driving, but hey whatever you wanna do, i just think that they enguage alittle to fast to be drving on the street.

Quick engagement-street driving ahh what the hell it was cheap, compared for what i gotta pay here in denmark. Ill save about 145$ over the weak stock PP and clutch.

I have seen good things about ACT and Clutchmasters. I have heard only bad things about Centerforce.
Chris Ng on the forum is using the ACT HD pressure plate with a 6 puck disc, and braided clutch line. He claims it's completely streetable, I tried to drive it and found it difficult, but with some practice I don't think it would be to tough to get used to. It grabs and holds the power no problem, only problem is, as we all know you can't slip a pucked clutch so it's all or nothing with the thing, takes some time to get used to.
Maxthe7man is using a stage3 Clutchmasters I believe, its a kevlar clutch. He is pushing some big power 300+ easy, and the thing holds not problem, no signs of slippage, the clutch is holding together well, wish we could say the same for the tranny
