Which clutch?
i got the ACT extreme clutch set for street, with a full street disk, its spossed to be the best clutch you can get for the street. and still have a daily driver. but you need to get a stainless braided clutch line. and your ganna build up your left leg from what ive heard.

thats the main problem with over the counter stuff. YOu cant tell them how to build it. 3500 lbs pressure plate is the best for street use. Not too hard and not too soft either. I use a 4 puck and 3500 lbs pressure plate in my RX-3; was in my daily driver 1st gen.

he usually charge me appx $250 for 4 puck or 6 puck plus a 3500 lbs pressure plate. let him know that Rommel sent you.
I'm thinkin on an ACT
I have a Exedy OEM replacement unit with only 12,000km and I think that it is already slipping!
Now that the engine is out for a rebuild I think that the ACT ZX2-HDSS would be the best compromise for cost and performance, totally streetable with the ACT Performance Organic Street Disc. It's rated at 34% pressure increaseover stock.
Now if I could only find a good deal on one in Canada!

A friend of mine just did an SR20 swap and he opted for the SPEC clutch. Pressure plate is very stiff and i believe he is using the 6 puck disk. he hasn't had any problems. I however am using an Exedy organic. I think it's slightly better than the stock replacement. Don't think it was worth the 360 i paid for it though. oh well, live and learn.

you all know that exedy MAKES most of the clutches right? just look for the DK symbol on it, they make the stock units, they make centerforce units and they make ACT as well, ACT is just the middle man, why not goto exedy directly and pay for what you get?
I have an ACT. I am amazed not only at its ability to grab, but the fact that it is phenominally easy to push down the clutch. Also, when you are driving normally, it allows smooth, regular shifting.
Wish I'd found this post a few days ago when I was looking for clutch info. I was pressed for time tho, so my research was less than thorough.
I had a SPEC Stage II clutch in my S13 while it was still KA powered. It was slipping within 2 weeks of the install despite a very careful break in. We have a S13 with a SR swap that used a Stage II as well for the SR, and he's also had slippage problems. When I swapped the SR into my car, I went with the ACT Street/Strip with the HD pressure plate and found it to be a very superior clutch to the Spec, despite the fact that I was running more than twice the HP and torque through it.
I ordered the ACT Street/Strip disk with the Xtreme pressure plate on Friday, and once it's in the car, I'll be letting everyone know how it works.
I'd have gone with a 4 or 6 puck plate if ACT had offered an intermediate level with a sprung hub. Without having driven a car with a unsprung hub, I wasn't about to take a chance on them. My partner's S13 had a sprung Nismo 6 puck that I liked better than my ACT in my S13. But with the posts I found on the installation issues with the Centerforce I decided to stick with the ACT.

I'd suggest Exedy. It's a relatively cheap brand, and they've really proven themselves to most tuner folk. They're supposed to hold according to their claims. Also, I'm not 100% if Spec makes a kit for the FC...but whatever. I've never even heard of them before.
You also might want to check out the Racing Beat clutches, they're supposed to be decent (although they're about $250-300). I'm still yet to get a new clutch...strangely.

I voted SPEC cause I've heard lots of good things about them over at mr2 forums.
Search the old board for it, the new one doesn't have a whole lot of stuff yet

I bought ACT on the recommendations of friends with high performance (and modest performance, too) cars. I got the street/strip + HD PP and will install with my streetported turbo in the next few weeks.
