Clunk noise? 1988 tenth anniversary
Clunk noise? 1988 tenth anniversary
Hey guys. I have a question, and hopefully someone can help me resolve it. On my 7, when ever i put it in gear and let out the clutch, it will make a clunk noise coming from the rear end. I thought it could be the differential, or the Universal joint. I un bolted the U joint inspected it, and found nothing wrong. I also checked the differential to see if there was too much slack in it. It would only turn back and forth just a tad. I raised the rear end up(tires off ground) put it in gear and let out the cluch, and it would not make a noise. It only makes a clunk noise when it is under a load. It does not do it in reverse either.. And thoughts? Thanks!
The reason it doesn't make the clunk when its in the air is because there is not enough load on it to throw the rear-end up/down like when the whole weight of the vehicle is behind it.
It is most definately your front differential mount.
