the leather was only available with gxl and turbo models. the interior is slightly different the doors have pockets, doesn't really matter but i think the leather would probably weigh more. leather is pretyt rare though.. most likely you will get cloth anyway.

Cloth will give you better grip while cornering. Note how on the FD; the R1 was only available in cloth because of that reason.

But as too the shape differences, yes the seats are slightly different, but its relatively minor differences. The leather options only had leather on the seating surfaces, steering wheel, and door panel inserts.

Is it just the seats that are different? or is there more. Whatever I get, i will probably end up installing racing seats, so if its just the seats that are leather when you get the "leather interior", then I really wont worry about it.
Thanks in advance, any help would be appriciated.
Hey whats up man kinda off topic here just wanted to say whats up to a fellow SSF.com member! Kinda cool to see other guys wandering over this way.

As for the seats I'm not real sure. I havea friend that has an '88 Convert with the leather seats and theya re very very comfortable. and my '86 GXL has quite possible the worste cloth seats I have ever sat in. but then again I like my seats a little more plush than the rest of the world. My GXL seats will hold you inplace like no other seat I've ever sat in shy or a racing seat. But Cindy's Convert Leather seats are definately the way to go for a daily driver!!!

My old TII had leather, and this one has cloth. I don't really see a difference in the seating grip, cause the seats have pretty big bolsters.

A) Sitting here gathering tons of information for something that will never happen.
B) Gonna sell my Celica in the spring and buy a '91 RX7.
C) Simply just expanding my automotive knowledge

who the hell knows, I gotta go watch fast and the furious a few more times so i can get some ideas.....lmao
If you want a fast Rx-7 definately get the TurboII or a 3rd gen!! (Like Vin diesels) The N/A are not really anything great. Granted mine is in a state of needing some tuning I still am not impressed by them. Hell my roomates '98 V6 firebird blows mine outta the water everyday!! No wI had a buddy with the TII and hsi waste what I would call Jesus Christ fast...You know where its like you get to the top of an 1/8 (+/-) entrance ramp and your doing like 120!!!! Yea find a nice Turbo II for a couple of grand go have fun!!!! They handle like nothing else though. Hell it makes my lowered ZQ8 S-10 look like a damm marshmallow!!!! And I know you know how those handle!

Anyway back to the question at hand GET THE LEATHER!!!!

I have a 91' NA "Coupe" and it came with leather seats, steering wheel, and door inserts. . .Did you mean just the 86-88' models?

we are getting way too technical here..... 86-88 only turbo, vert, gxl could get leather.... 89-91 GXL, Vert, T2, it was optional on 91 N/A they only had one model n/a.

i have both leather AND cloth on my n/a and T2 respectively. to be honest i like the leather seats better

they have a lever which controls the tilt of the seat, which almost acts as if you were tilting the wheel (which no FC has). so for the taller guys this definately helps add some more leg room.

the T2 cloth seats are nice, but i guess i'm just so used to the leather ones they feel more comfy to me.

as for the rest of the interior, since the n/a has leather seats it also has the leather steering wheel, shift **** and boot, leather on the doors, and just a black dash

the cloth T2 has the same black dash, leather shift **** and boot. on the doors where the leather was it has some other fabric, and the regular 89-91 T2 steering wheel.

Sorry if it's too technical, but I just didn't want anyone to be misled. . .

Not in all of them, but all of mine except the 87 Sport parts car will tilt. Theres a lever underneath the coulum that you pull down to adjust the tilt of the column.

my GXL came with cloth (the ugly maroon/red color) and TII with dark gray leather.

Personally, just get aftermarket seats, because:
1- ALL, and I mean all the cloth seats I have come across had a rip on the drivers side, and
2- the leather seats are cracked (10+ years of wear and tear) unless it was WELL taken care of.
