Clip on top of alternator/ idiot light cluster
OK my fc is missing alot of wiring for one reason or another and it has been brought to my attention that the wire that clips to the top of the alternator is completely missing. I have another clip i can splice on but where is the wire supposed to connect to? The battery has been relocated and the normal bundle of wires on the strut tower has been divided amongst a distribution block.
Also, the idiot light panel is completely dead is there a fuse or somethign associated w/ it or should I assume there is more missing wiring?

The clip you're talking about plugs into the R and L terminals on the alt. The R terminal is connected to the ignition switch, and the L terminal is connected to the warning light cluster. Normally, the warning lights come on if alternator output is outside 14.4V to 15V due to this connection. Without it, your warning lights will never see power. There's no fuse that I can think of, but you will need to refer to the wiring diagrams anyway.
Here are a couple things to help besides the FSM.

The alternators wires are in the EM harnesss on a NON TURBO car. It appears someone has hacked up your wiring on your car, so there's no telling where or if those wires exist anymore.
The BLACK/WHITE wire is fed off the ENGINE fuse.
The WHITE/BLACK wire goes to the CPU and a relay inside the CPU on a NON TURBO CAR. That wire puts a gnd on the mentioned relay in the CPU which in turn puts a gnd on the idiot light cluster to make the idiot lights come on, IF the idiot light cluster has power going to it.
Wiring for the non turbo and then the Turbo alternator is attached. Note how the Turbo alt wire are not in the EM harness but the Engine harness.

Interesting, I never thought the 2 problems would be related. Thanks for the info.
So I just need to use the diagrams to match up the ignition wire and the cpu connector.

For the switched power to the alt, you could get creative. Your looking for a source of switched power. You COULD get that from the six socket, GREEN check connector NEAR the LEAD coil assy. It would be the BLACK/WHITE WIRE in that six socket, GREEN connector.
IF you look at the small plug on the series four alternator, the two sockets form a TEE shape. The black/white wire goes on top of the* T*, the white/black is the bottom of the* T*.
IF the alt is a series five, then the above does not apply.
The BLACK/WHITE is the important wire. The WHITE/BLACK is just for the idiot light and nothing else.
