Clicking Clutch Pedal

'89 vert. This morning my clutch pedal began clicking at the top of the range, on in or out movements. It's a loud, mechanical click. Any thoughts?
Thanks-
Jay

Check where rod meets the clutch fork. It gets dry and will "jump" causing the noise.

Sounds like a noisy clutch in/out switch. My sport did this on cold days.

What about a squeeky clutch pedal? Makes noises on both the compress and depress motions. It's brand new so I do not think it's an internal leak. Could changing the clutch fluid to something else... say silicon remedy the problem?

Mine did/does this too.

There's a little button on the clutch pedal stalk that goes into and out of a hole. The hole is supposed to have some sort of cap in it. Yours probably fell out at some point. I just put duct tape over the hole. I have no clue what this is actually for but my car still works fine.

Are you responding to me or to the OP? If it's to me then I've checked. It has something there that keeps the clutch engagement switch from hitting the hole (I put an interrior push tac thinggy in the hole... until I get around to ordering a new rubber stop).

My 90 vert started doing the same thing. I dont really think its a big deal though. Just annoying when you let off the clutch

Bingo! Mine is doing this, the switch is bad. This also causes my cruise control to not work.

Is that the thing that makes it not start without the clutch pushed in? Having an 86 without that crap is nice...

Yes.

Even some 87 don't have the clutch interlock switch. It's been documented on this site. Like one of the 87 turbo cars I have. I''m pretty sure my 86 non turbo does not have one.

Back from the dead.

The rubber stopper broke on my T2 (big surprise). I fixed the clicking clutch switch by cutting a piece of velcro and sticking it on there where the stopper used to be. I chose the soft side.
