Clicking in 5th and reverse

First off, thanks to everyone on this board, I really have learned a lot about this sweet little car. I've got the stereo working, windows replaced, power antenna fix, and probly rewire the CPU this weekend to fix the stupid horn which is preventing me from registering (stupid Utah). Anyway, I have an 87 NA rx-7 with the manual transmission, and whenever I shift into 5th or reverse and completely release the clutch, a clicking will start from the clutch or the transmission. The clicking will then continue in all gears and neutral with the clutch released. If I put the car into 5th or reverse and lightly release the clutch, it stops and I can drive normally. 1st through 4th operate fine. I checked the tranmission oil and it's fine. Car has a new clutch, and rebuilt tranny with 2000 miles on both. The clutch and the transmission feel a little tight overall to me, but it all works perfectly untill you fully engage reverse or 5th.

I'm not asking for an assesment, just if anyone has heard of this before. I looked in the service manual, and the FAQs, and nothing is obvious, but the diagrams suck. If this is a common problem, please let me know... I don't want to spend a grand on a tranny rebuild or something like that.

Anybody heard of this before?

TIA,
Jasmine

I don't know, I would assume so, but the job was done by a local shop, and the clutch was done "as a gift" because they burned out the old one "test driving" it after they rebuilt the transmission. I'm not sure I want to take it back to them.

I was thinkin that too, but when ever you push the clutch pedal down, the clicking stops, even if you are rolling along. I think I forgot to say that before. It's gotta be somethin in that new clutch that got done wrong somehow...

It's the pilot bearing that's SUPPOSED to be changed...it'll get worse.

Right now, it sounds like a damn jet in my car, I'm just waiting to finish my supercharger project up before I buy a clutch (already have the pressure plate).
