Cleaning Iron Faces

Hey, I got a set of irons waaay back in the day from Japan2LA, they have black marks on them where the rotor was sitting for a bit and I would like to clean them up before rebuilding. What concerns me using something that is abrasive enough to clean the marks will also hurt the Nitride Coating, I am thinking a scotch pad should do the trick but just want to double check.

Just use a mild Scotch Brite pad. You won't eat through the nitriding. Lubricate the pad with something while you use it. I generally do this in my parts cleaner.

Mild are the green ones? My buddy has some 'brown' ones that he swears by but I think they are a bit more abrasive.
