Cleaning Intake Manifolds

got new intake manifolds, but they're pretty dirty, what would be the best thing to clean them with? would totally submerging them in something hurt the inside? i would assume liquid on the inside may cause rust, rust in engine = bad

dunk 'em in a parts washer..... then blow em off with compressed air. Its aluminum... not going to rust like that... Its a good idea to dissassemble the throttle body if you are going to clean that so that the linkage and springs don't get all caked with residue. take any rubber or plastic parts off as well, parts washer fluid will eat them.. Clean all the holes out good with carb or brake parts cleaner before reassembly

I used Carb and Brake cleaner since it evaporates.

My SE did Smoke for a seconds but I think some of the dripping gunk got in the engine.

Use soap and water after using any other solvents to get rid of any residue.

I've always used an *** of carb cleaner to spray in IMs when cleaning them. Works nicely. Kerosene isn't too bad either.

Oven cleaner is the absolute ****, though. Go with that.
