cleaning injectors urself
So I had the injectors out, and wanna clean. but i'm broke as a joke. so i dip the injectors in MMO (already had some) for like 2 hours. Then got some injector cleaner (redline) and dipped in for another 2 hours. While there dipping I just open and close them hella times (hook up a batt and switch, then turn on/off really fast) also I made a funnel to go ontop of the injector with fuel injector cleaner in it, and pulsed the injector until all the cleaner went thru it. what i noticed is that the secondary injectors flow faster than the primaries. are my primaries really dirty, or is it jus normal. any help greatly appreciated.

It's only logical that the primaries would be more gummed up than the secondaries- since they get used 100% of the times, while the secondaries are only online above 3800 rpms.....
That's pretty much how I cleaned mine (BTW, you can use as little as 1.5-2v to open the injectors, so you don't have to worry about frying them if held open with a full 12v for more than 10 sec....
It will clear out the gum, but there is no substitute for the ultrasonic cleaning that professional places do (eg: RC engineering) to totally clean them.

Yep... same thing- I would love to be able to use one of those!
The chemical is probably just a regular cleaner/degreaser.. like carb cleaner or something.
I don't know how long they need though... I would also make sure you keep the injectors opening while it's in the solution.

Injector cleaning
Chrysler has an aerosol cleaner that they use on their enignes. I saw it done on TV once. They disconnected a vacuum line that shut off the fuel pump and connected the aerosol can to the injection rack. The can comes with a lockable nozzle. They began cranking the engine and locked open the nozzle on the can. They ran the engine until it ran out of fuel and just put everything back in place.
When they restarted the engine, it ran MUCH better. Has anyone else seen this procedure? Anyone think that it could be used on an RX7?
It sure beats pulling the injectors and would allow the injectors to be cleaned on a regular basis.
