Cleaning Engine Parts for Rebuild. Jet Cleaning??

Last time I built a motor (piston) with my father 10 years ago, we sent the motor out to be hot tanked. But I guess the chemicals were to toxic so now they do Jet Cleaning or something like that?

Does anyone see a problem having this done to the Irons, Rotors, Rotor Housings?

not too sure what Jet Cleaning is...but i'm going to say it is probably some sort of high pressure water technique of cleaning...
i know for things like manifolds sand/bead blasting works great. not to sure about the interior rotor housing or the rotors themselves...i would be catious when doing those items

that works for carbon build up and what not, but it won't take care of the imperfections and damage that have formed over the years...

nah, shouldn't be an issue. My buddy that works on 7's all day long at a dealership does it to his cars.

Cool, I'll post how they come out when I get them done. Unfortunatly my 90 Talon Tsi snapped its timming belt with only 20k on the belt, today on the way to work. So, I have to fix that first so I can get the parts to their destition.

I used some aluminum brightner (diluted) on the outside of the housing I used a brass wire wheel.

I'm such an *** for not searching this, but I'd like to paint my housings black like you did yours... how did you do it?

Oh and I've always wondered why no one ever paints the parts of the housing with the ports on them? Paint melt off? =/
