Clean Idle Air Control & By Pass Air Valve?

*Perfect 750 idle beforehand*

So i was having intake problems and i took it to the mechanic. They said it was a vaccum leak and adjusted my idle to 1100 so i could drive it back without stalling a bunch home before i took it back to them tomorrow morning to see what was up.

Took it to them today and i came back later this afternoon and they had said that my Idle Air Control and By Pass Air Valve were getting old and they called the dealer to buy them and they said that the dealer wanted 700$ each part so they just cleaned them really well. The intake problem is gone now and car works well. Problem is now, that my car wont idle below 1100. I adjusted the screw at the top of the body and i turn it almost to close and it wont go below 1100.

I'm guessing the valves they cleaned got messed up? How do I adjust them? Or any other advice?

I'd get out the FSM and start from square one on the idle checks & adjustments section, if you're SURE you have no vac leaks...

alright thanks.

i checked mazdatrix for brand new ACV and BAC. Those two alone are worth more then my car. hah

even though i've checked for vacuum leaks and found none i'll just replace all my hoses. does anyone have a list of all the lengths and widths needed?

thanks again.

Hey check the allen key screw on the end of the BAC, if you twist it inwards, it shuts the valve. Twist it all the way in, to make sure that it is sealed.

So, warm up the car, get it running at optimal temp, shut it off and twist that screw in (yes im talking about the NA BAC) all the way and disconnect the BAC. Now start the car and see if your idle goes down, or at least that you can set it to 800rpm. If thats the case, rehook up the BAC for idle control again.
I totally missed this when I asked a question in a thread I posted tonight. If the screw is out to much (the guys probably screwed with it, no pun intended) then you'll have a nice vac leak.
