circuit city broke my dash trim and vent need help

so i was getting my deck RE-INSTALLED by them because the first guy decided to mickey mouse the whole thing cus they dont make an 87 kit for an rx7. the thing totally falls apart and has always looked like ****. so the new installer gets everything looking like **** money. but cant get the side pieces on cus the other guy GLUED down the dash trim, so they tried to take it off, and cracked it in many places and cracked right below my vent.

so they want to just take it off and break it to finish the install...but....they want me to pay for them to fix it, 20 bucks, im a non working student i dont have 20 bucks to spare, at all. and i think its BS to make me pay for.

can anyone sell me a dash trim, and or vent section? yes i found a couple posts in for sale section.

i cant prove that the guy who installed it last time glued it, except that i watched him the whole time and he did take it off to get the deck in, and i took pictures of the cracks incase i have to take them to small claims.

any help? what should i do with making them pay?

I don't know any specific advice, but make them pay, dearly.

Pick up replacements for a few bucks on eBay and chalk the whole thing off to experience. You can waste a lot of energy trying to get them to cough up a few bucks and it will not be worth the effort. Just let the manager know that you will not be back and that you will advise others to avoid their business.

That's what you get taking your car to Circuit City.

Metra makes a kit by the way, but it does require that the radio surround be in good condition. By the sound of it, your's was not.

Buy a new radio surround and if you can't get the kit and mount it yourself, then take it too professional installers.

But it is not the installers fault if the plastic was cracked or old. it is only the installers fault if they didn't take out all the screws before trying to remove the radio surround.

If you are a poor college student then you need to learn to do things yourself. You'll save money and heartache. In the end you can't blame anyone but yourself. Like Icemark said, that's what you get.

Sounds like circuit city is giving itself quite a great reputation for anyone owning a 2nd gen

Circuity City

If i ever got my radio installed by them or anyone, I'd make sure to take the trim and everything out before bringing it there.

I have to agree with what was said above. Don't let them fix it. Buy the pieces and fix it yourself. Make sure you tell everyone that can hear you in the store how pissed you are and that it's their fault (whether it is or not). Remember, the customer is always right. Have fun and release some steam, just don't get yuorself arrested in the mean time.

^^ I fixed it for you.

But seriously... How hard is wiring a stereo? Do it yourself and you'll have more pride in your car.

I have a friend that works at best buy as an installer, and they have damage claim forms etc. I would look into that I duno if circuit has it or not. might just be SOL, find a junkyard and get a new piece.

instalation was free, and i only had the car for a day when i got it installed, so i wasnt confident at all. but ya i will not pay for anything else myself that has to do with them and my dash. its not my fault it broke, i didnt make them attempt to get it off and crack it.

but next 7 i will install it myself. now i know how. i install all my own systems. just not the decks.

I used to work at a Circuit a while back, now im in a private shop. If the dash was damaged during the install, they should pay for it. It's called an SIL (self-insured loss) and they cover the cost of the repair. If it was damaged before they touched it, it should have been mentioned on the ticket and they hold no liability for it. If, during the install, they cracked the piece, they cover the cost of the repair.
