Cigarette lighter socket part identification

1989 vert.

My FM transmitter stopped working and I blew a fuse but I replaced that and it still didn't work. I noticed it was broken itself and decided to throw it out.

I decided to see if the socket itself was broken and noticed something jammed inside. I cannot tell if this was attached to the car originally or fell off my transmitter but I can't check the transmitter out because I threw it out stupidly .

Any ideas if this belongs ?
