cheap @$$ Sound mat
ok if you interior has shown up on the back of a milk carton lately then you know how hot an RX7 can get. well all was lost till now.
their is this stuff called quick roof at home depo. It has an foil back with tar on the front, will stick to any thing, an will dampen sound and block out heat. but here is the best part a 30 foot roll is 12.96 lol a hell of a lot cheaper than dynomat.
just wanted to let you guys know about it i will be getting some for my car wednesday an i will try to post pics but this could be some really good stuff

haha!! well that sounds great! i need some of that, my front carpet was missing when i bought it. it's always hot in there... but i thought it must be good for winter.
i'll wait to buy some after seeing you install it, hope it turns out great! i've been trying to get my hands on some.

Of course, Dynamat is not exactly tar paper. It's some kind of "space age plastic" according to the package. My simple tests (things like burning it, finding out what kind of solvents dissolve it, etc.) show that it's not even close to tar chemically. It may look like tar, but it's not. It's far closer to rubber. I'm also willing to bet that it insulates better and is far lighter.
You will need a surprising amount to cover the floor pan of the car. About 54 square feet. Weigh 54 square feet of your tar paper, then the same amount of Dynamat Xtreme.
Dynamat is expensive for sure. But you get what you pay for.

I think this guys test out did Aaron's. Whenever I buy I plan to get the Second Skin Damplifier. The tar stuff will work but it has its drawbacks. I think the biggest complaint is the smell.
