Charcoal canister line...

So I was looking at my charcoal cannister the other day and the big line that goes from the bottom of the cannister was not connected to anything. Is this a bad thing? What should it be connected to? I gave the surrounding area a quick lookover to find something for it to connect to, but to no avail. So, I'm really not too sure what it needs to go to.

it shouldn't be connected to anything, thats the dump tube. while you're there staring at it, rip that pos out! cap the line going to the engine and vent the line coming from the tank. voila, more engine room.

It's to absorb burps of fumes, lest we offend.

On my simplified plumbing arrangement, I use it for an oil pan vapor trap.

Would you want to cap the line from the engine? Isn't it supposed to vent (to the canister or otherwise)?

no, the chamber has nothing to vent to if the CC is gone. you cap the line from the engine cause normally that is where the CC's fumes are sent to under load. so when its idling or stationary, if it isn't plugged, you'd techincally have a small hole in your engine block.

the line going to the gas tant is left vented unless you like to open your gas cap slowly at the station or, even better, you have a vented gas cap. or vent the line at the tank itself if you want instead of the engine bay.
