90 TII Wooshing sound!!!

Hey Guys

(I used the search feature)

Im getting low boost (5psi), when this happens I hear a woooshing sound underneath the hood. I was told I may have a cracked wastegate. How common is that? Also, I replaced the TID already with a new stock unit but that didnt seem to fix it. Any ideas, I really want my car working for sevenstock?

You have a boost leak, not a cracked wastegate. Check all the piping from the turbo to the intake and make sure there are no cracks, splits or leaks. Odds are you will find something wrong.

Yup yup, happened to my TII at MADS in March. After prolonged boosting some stuff came loose. I noticed it because I heard my turbo start spooling MUCH sooner than it usually does (like 2000rpm!) and when I stomped on it, I got a quick spool sound and very little boost, accompanied by a wooshing sound. It also idled like poo. A trip under the hood with a wrench to tighten up all the hose clamps, and installing zipties on some smaller lines, and everything was back to normal.
