Changing rear rotors...Only have one screw?

So for the past month or so, Ive had a vibration under braking from my rear rotors. Mainly the rear passenger side rotor. I figured they were warped, so I bought some new ones and went out to change them today. When pulling off the wheel, I noticed that there was only one screw in the rotor... I say to myself. I pull off the other wheel and see that theres only one screw in that one too. 2x On the drivers side rotor, it definately looks like a screw was sheared off though...So I think, "Well the guy I bought the car from did things pretty bootleg. Hed probably let this fly"

So, then I go to look at the rotors I bought from Autozone. Now, not only are they not vented, but they also only have one screw hole in them. 3x

Well needless to say, that autozone rotors are going back and Im going to buy some Mazda ones, but my question is, is there only supposed to be one screw holding the rear rotors in?

All the screw does is prevent the rotors from half-falling off when the wheel is removed. Other then that, it serves no purpose at all. I don't even reinstall the screw when I change the rotors because it's always a pain in the *** to remove (I just drill).

The lack of screw is not causing your vibration. As you suggested, I suspect rear rotors are warped.

Ok...My friend also said it could be a warped hub? What are the chances of that being the culprit?

And how exactly do I gou about "drilling it out"? I know its probably a stupid question but Ive never had to do it to anything before.

i doubt the hub will warp... i highly doubt it... if u are still experiencing vibration from the rear, i woudl try swaping the front tires to teh back and the back to the run to eliminate the possibility that the wheels are out of balance or that a rim is warped.

the next probably cause would be the wheel bearings.
jack the car up and wiggle the wheel and check for play.

It is possible for the hub to warp if the lugs are severly overtightened, but I doubt that is the cause.

To drill the screws out, just get a bit approximately 75% of the size of the heads, then drill until the heads pop off. You should then be able to remove the rest of the screw with your fingers or vice grips.

Alright. I didnt think the hub would be warped but he was acting like thats what it was.

I know its the rotor ( or something brake related ) because it only happens when Im braking and gets worse as I brake harder.

So any suggestions onhow to drill those screws out?

Also, does anyone know where I could get Mazda OEM rear brake rotors for cheap? Or how much does Mazda normally charge for them?

You need to buy an impact driver from sears, its like $20, or buy the snap-on for like $125 or so. It would take that sucker right off.
