changed oil, now i'm burning it

I just recently changed my oil, this was my first time, i put in castrol gtx. i might have put too much in, but now i am burning oil pretty bad, mostly in first and second, but occasionaly while i'm drving down the highway, it'll just start smoking,. Like i said i might have put too much oil in, what amount should it take to fill? and could that be a problem? or the kind of oil? please help

Hmm...
Maybe you used a lighter weight oil which allows it to seep through some leak you have somewhere, dripping on something hot causing it to burn. Make sure everything is tight: oil pan, oil filter, OMP, oil injectors, oil drain plug, etc.

yeah, what weight oil did you use? What do you usually use? If the oil is too thin, it'll burn on an old engine. Try putting in heavier oil. I'm running 20W-50, but I've run 10W-30 with no problems too.

5 qts with filter change. Sure your burning it and not leaking?

i've check it again, and i'm reading between the marks, so its not over filled
i put in 20w 50, and i wasnt really burning it before i changed it, only a bit at start up, then it would stop
