Changed Coolant hose now Check Engine light is on
I was having a coolant leak in the hose coming from the engine, to the firewall for the heater core. I replaced (with knowledgeable help) this hose with the stock Mazda part. It does not seem to be leaking. Then I filled the radiator up all the way with coolant. I drove it about 2 miles away and the ADD COOLANT light/buzzer came on. So I stopped and added it till the radiator was full. (The backup reservoir is still at the nominal level.) On my way back to work, the ADD COOLANT light/buzzer came on again. I figure this is cause it's burping the radiator, so I am not too concerned with it. (Should I be?)
But ever since I started the car after replacing this hose and filling the coolant, the CHECK ENGINE idiot light is on. It does not flash on or anything. As soon as the engine starts this light comes on. What could the problem be? Where can I start troubleshooting? My friend/helper pulled the second rotor's spark plug wires, but he put them back in after we were done.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!
PS I did a couple of searches and found nothing relating to this problem.

sounds like when you replaced the coolant you didn't properly fill the system..it may have air in the the cooling system..you can't just empty the rad ,fill it back up,cap the rad and drive..suggest you look for info in the forum about how to properly replace coolant(if this is the case..)..rotaryresurrection may have something on his site..(kevin has some good info)..good luck..one more thing ..do it now..it will cost you if you don't..

Thanks for the reply..
Would that really cause the Check Engine light to come on? Or just the Add Coolant light? If I take it to a shop, should I just tell them to flush the coolant?

I have fixed this issue. Misterstyx69 was nice enough to PM me some details. The CHECK ENGINE light was comming on cause I had unplugged the Temperature sending unit (I think) that was right next to the oil filter. This was easily done considering the tight space we had when installing the hose.
I got all the air out of the rad. and drove for an hour home last night and it didn't light ADD COOLANT.
MAD PROPS to Misterstyx69.
