To change fuel pump do you need to drop the tank?

Last minute pump install. is it just an intank fuel pump or do you have to drop the tank?

Don't need to drop the tank. Look in the Haynes manual or Factory Service Manual which is available for download online for free.

what tools are needed to take out the pump/install? (walbro) I am mechanically retarded and I have a friend doing it for me. he needs to know what tools to bring home for tonight. thanks in advanced its greatly appreciated.

philips screw driver, and I can't remember what else. The screw driver will take the screws out of the cover panel which is under the carpet. Remove the panel and you will have access to the top of the tank where the pump drops in.

I think that philips screws hold the cover on, guess Im not 100% sure it's been a couple of months since I had mine out, sorry

Phillips screw driver for removing first cover, smaller phillips for removing 2nd cover, needlenose etc for loosening fuel lines..

A multi tool would cover you. This isn't exactly rocket science.

a good phillips, and in my case, a drill, reverse bits, screw extractor, a lot of swear words, some blood, a knock on the head, some more swearing and a six pack of beer. My tank cover screws were absolutely rusted to ****, had to drill them out and retap the holes. good luck. Probably good to have a fire extinguisher working with the fuel tank.
