I searched to no avail, so here is my issue(s). The car is a 1990 TII. Only mod is a cat-back, the rest is stock.

My CEL light will flash (in no particular sequence) in higher RPM's (under boost), only in 3rd and 4th gear pulls...I would assume 5th also, but I don't like boosting in 5th to find out.

There is a loss of power somewhere, and I guess it has something to do with this CEL and whatever is causing it...but I am at a loss for ideas and frankly, I am a bit tired of diagnosing for the moment.

A little history of what's been happening the last month with it if it helps...My husband and I just finished fixing a coolant leak and then a fuel leak...The UIM and LIM were both removed and re-installed, as well as the turbo. The car got new O rings in the LIM, new gaskets (UIM and LIM) and it also got several new coolant hoses, new fuel line, and a lot of new vacuum line. As far as I know, all vaccum lines and other lines are intact, as well as all connectors connected. However, it did not have this issue before removal which leads me to believe we either 1) forgot something or 2) broke something (which I seem to be pretty good at). I'm just tired of thinking about what it is/could be.

Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences, or even suggestions of things to take a look at?

 

What's the code?

 

Not sure of the code, the light doesn't actually stay on to pull it. It doesn't flash in any regular sequence as to note any particular code. It's different every time.

Any other ideas?

 

Go to VRs code link (below) and using the instructions, read the codes stored in the ECU. Then get back here and someone will assist you if necessary.

1) ground the initial set connector
2) Turn the key on, don't start the engine
3) Watch the CEL light and record the order the lights flash; that's your code
4) Long flashes are 10's, short ones are 1's; so a long one followed by two short ones would be code 12. The list of codes is given in the FSM.
