catback: borla or racing beat?

I'm trying to decide between the borla catback (I've heard people mention the xr-1. I'm not sure what that is. To be clear i'm looking at this:
http://www.mrcmfg.com/respeed/catalo...68a1eb48f19d30)

and the racing beat catback

I was about to go with the borla because it's much cheaper, but someone said it doesn't sound any good.

any sound clips would be greatly appreciated

I actually bought the Borla cat-back to multiple recommendations. I love mine, keeps the cops away and still sounds nice.

'91 NA

The car already has headers and a glasspack (i think) that were installed when I got the car. I might replace the glasspack with a straight pipe if it's not too expensive. The custom y-pipe has some broken welds or something. it's messed up. The mufflers, which I believe are apexi N1s, (they don't say apexi on them though)have holes where the mounts were welded and broke. If they could be fixed, I could save a lot of money by just buying a y-pipe, but then I would still have an extremely loud exhaust. I think I'd rather have something that's a little quieter.

i drive a 91 na with a few small mods ... one being a stainless 2-1/2 down pipe into a stainless steel works glass pack then into the borla setup and its great! nice tone when at speed and wakes up nice when u push it. one thing i would do 4 sure is cut of all flanges and make em all slip joints ... stainless steel is pure and will grow about 3/4 inch under the heat from your 7 ... flanges tend to be a week spot on our exhausts. and that 3/4 inch is in terms of lenth not width.

I think the borla is a good buy. I've heard good things about them and they are a reasonable price. Racing beat is a very good product, but the main place I think the price is justified is farther up towards the engine where you need that extra strength and durability. After that it comes more down to the sound, assuming its a quality product.

I would recommend about anything except for the racing beat. Yeah, that's what I said, don't buy the racing beat. It is overpriced and uses chambered mufflers. Get something with straight through mufflers. The sound isn't much louder, but they flow much better. Borla setups are nice. I owned a Mindtrain and it was decent, but made with mild steel so it rusted. Now I have a custom setup with a Magnaflow SS muffler, and it is the best I've ever heard. My whole exhaust (V-band on turbo to tip including hangers and everything) cost me less than $400. It would have been even cheaper if I would have used smaller piping, but I'm glad I went with the 4" all the way. Just my experience.....

The N1 setup is also decent, but I'm not a big fan of the HUGE (4.5" I think) tip since the biggest part of the system before that is only 3". It does flow well though.

Beings that you have an NA I would probably stick with something in the 2.5-3" range for a single outlet or 2.25-2.5 with dual outlets. I don't think anything bigger will gain you anything.

By the way, that mindtrain system that I mentioned earlier is for sale if anyone wants to PM me about it.

I'm very happy with my full Racing Beat exhaust. You get what you pay for. It is quality, sounds nice, and there is a definite increase in power.

IMO, mufflers that don't muffle are WAY too loud for an uncorked rotary. I ran straight through mufflers for a while, and it was unbearable.

Mods in sig.

It all depends on the person. I have the N1 single and I like them a lot. They are pretty loud, though, and can get annoying on long trips. Its also a bit pricy, I think (came with the car so I'm not sure.)
Also, I don't see the clip on that link.
