Catalytic converter
Hey , I just got myself a 92 rx7 and I love it. I noticed that I do not have a catalytic converter and a light on my dash keeps flashing whenever I give it gas. The light looks like an exhaust with heat coming of the top and it says heat underneath.
I was just wondering if this would be a common thing for cars that do not have a catalytic converter . Would it be bad for the car to keep driving without one..
Thanks for the help

I don't know how or why a light would come on due to not having a Cat.
These cars only have 1 O2 sensor and it is before the cat, so there is no way the car would know if it does or doesn't have a cat.
I don't know what light you are talking about but what is the engine temp running?

I seem to remember a sensor that is on the floor board that indicates heat. Perhaps this sensor is indicating an overloaded or clogged catalytic converter or at least elevated temperatures beyond the threshold of the sensor's relevant indication. Have you changed or modified the exhaust or cats? this might indicate a problem.

The car is running good. Start it up , let the rpm drop to about 800rpm , and my engine heat never went over the half mark on the gauge.
Could it be a ground fault.

Exhaust heat light coming on, means the either the mixture is way way rich and over heating, or a clogged cat (but he said he didn't have a cat) or the wire is shorted to ground under the passengers seat.
