Thumbs down Cat=no Power!

Does everyone have this problem?
since i have put my "high flow" cat in, and my corksport silencer, i might as well be driving a civic, cause i have lost major power. i can barely boost more then 4!!

even with my 3 inch downpipe and the catback, im having trouble.

yes its running alot smoother since i did the TID over(came out great), but what the hell?

how do i know if theres to much play in the turbo? how much is to much?

as far as turbo play... less is always better... should spin freely, and not move much either side to side, or in and out... basicaly if it can move so much as to touch the outer housing then it should be replaced... before that you are ok... but more play means its wearing out

it shouldn't be like that at all. Think, FD's have two crappy cats that aren't near as good as new ones, but they still boost 10 psi. Do you have the stock turbo, or some monster thing?
I'd say try putting a pipe back on to see if that solves it.

correct me if im wrong but in a turbo car the less back pressure the better right. thats why so many turbo owners have 3in turbo back exhaust and no cats

Except the suckers that still have to worry about emmissions (like myself once my T2 conversion is done). But from what I've read so far, some backpressure is good for N/A's, while less is best for T2's. I just got a DP from Corksport today and almost fell over when I saw the diameter of the thing, lol. I am so used to my little 2.5" N/A exhaust, heheh.

i'd check intake leak for that, or even sensors, the upgrade just doesn't seem to make boost lower

i have a catco cat, yes i know its the eqivalent of pacesetter(garbage), but i needed it and it was 100 bucks =(

yes i have a stock s5 turbo

what kind of sensors would you recomend checking?

i know theres no intake leak at the tid cause i just made one and its tight. maybe somewhere else?

when i bring it up around 5k+, it sounds so bad due to the corksport silencer, it sounds like its blowing through a straw. sounds like ****. maybe its restricting to much? i have to get it off and check itout

yes, on NA's alittle more backpressue is better inorder for the secondaries to function. correct? and turbos you can run 3+ inches all the way back, and AS LONG AS YOU HAVE ENOUGH FUEL you'll be fine =)

Go to a rural area. Disconnect the converter at the 3" DP. Make sure it's out of the way, and let it rip. You won't need to drive it far. Before I tried mine, while it was cool, I loosened the bolts on the converter, drove it out, then removed the converter, then tried it. Needed to wear heat resistant gloves, but it worked.

you have a ground on the stock cat back, if it's not replaced the O2 sensor loses ground, sends false signals to ECU and the computer goes into limp mode. So the moral of the story is to add a ground to your exhaust.
I found this out the hard way.

ground doesn't do anything... nor does the 02 sensor. you can unplug it car will be the exact same at WOT.

you know, i thought that the O2 sensor grounded itself to the engine block either way. how is a ground strap on the exhaust any different? just curious, obi wan.

Grounding strap.

That grounding strap is for corrosion/rust resistance, nothing more, nothing less.
