carpet replacement on convertibles

carpet replacement on convertibles
I own a 1988 convertible and I am attempting to swtich the interior to a blue on black but i have hit a snag. There is no where I can find a replacement black carpet set for an '88 convertible. If anyone knows where on the web I can find a black replacement carpet for my vert I would be greatly appriciative. Thanks.

They didn't make black for the 'verts in 88. In fact the only series 4 FC with a black interior was the 10 AE T2.
All that given, you can use an aftermarket carpet kit (like from a restoration place or ebay) using just the front carpet section of the coupes carpet. The only draw back is that the carpet doesn't lay well behind the seats because of the 'verts extra reenforcement just behind the seats.
Or a used carpet kit from a series 5 FC3C.

theres no place that i have found that makes the factory molded carpet for the vert just the coupe,theres one place on the web that has carpet for the coupe and was willing to sell an extra strip of carpet thats the best i have found except used

I bought aftermarket coupe carpet for my vert from 'Auto Carpet Originals' on the web, I thought the quality sucked, I sent it back. The heel pads were all wrong, the pile was weird - and they claimed the carpet was a factory-like replaacement. Still waiting on my refund from them!
I'm going to re-dye the black carpet that was in my parts car, and use that.

The S4 GXL found on the better models like the 'vert, GXL, 88 GTU and all S4 T2 models.
Then there is the base s4 carpet found on everything else S4.
And then there is the s5 carpet pyle found on all the S5 cars.
