carpet removal question
carpet removal question
Hi guys
I would like to ask you a question about the carpet. Currently I am planning to remove the front carpet and I would like to ask you if I have to remove the dash in order to do it? Maybe you have any tips so I can do it. I would like to do that in order to remove the tar under it. I have already finished with the back and I will do the front know.
Thanks

You do not need to completely remove the dash, however you need to remove all the bolts holding it in place. Then have a buddy hold up on the dash while you pull the carpet out from under the dash. It is a PITA but just take your time. You can also take the dash out completely, but then it is more of a PITA to put it back.
Hope this helps.

The carpet will come out with out removing the main part of the dash but you will need to cut it in the center behind the section of the dash that holds the radio.
If you plan on putting the carpet back in it might be worth the trouble to do it right and remove the dash.
You will need to do that anyway if you want to remove 100% of the tar because there is some up on the firewall behind the dash.

NO...no cutting is required. Like joezoom said just get a friend to help sand slide it under the dash. there is a retaining clip under the heater core so you can either rip it out or try to get to it.
