Carbon lock?

Is there a way to tell if you car is at a dangerus point to obtain carbon lock and crack a apex?

Is there a way to clean it out to avoid this?

is there a way to test how good hte sid seals are? or help them from craking?

Water trick/marvels mystery oil/etc. Basically you can do a compression check, see what your plugs look like, and go from there.

carbon lock is a myth, rust is usually what locks these engines up due to lack of lubrication from sitting for so long, the best thing for a rotary is regular running of the engine. you can clean out any carbon from the engine by running water through a primary vacuum line to help steam clean the inside of the motor but the best thing you can do if you plan on putting the car up for a while is using a fogger lubrication in the leading plug holes and crank the engine by hand a few revolutions, do this periodically to prevent rust and engine lockup.

though the engines are fairly sealed, condensation can still get inside the motor and this, over time, can lock up an engine unless cared for properly.

Cool

Thx great reply.

I am about to go buy 89GLU that has ben sitting for a lil wile no more then a year thow. it is 1,200 it is from a rotary shop in town he was gona get it runing for him but never got around to it i asked him if he would sell it thow it wasent running. he said 900 and u cna take it. I told him lets check the compreshion it came out with 7 across the board on the rotary compreshion machine but it idnt run. I told him I will give you 1,200 and you get it running and I want all vac lines changed and coolant lines new fluids. come to finde out something was wrong with the motor harness and injectors it wasent fiering right. So he pulld a harness off another rx-7 he had in the yard and the injectors to fix it. The motor in the car is one out of another RX-7 as well the car has 110k on it and the motor probably between 60k and 80k.

The paint is bad shity exhoust job carpet staind seats perfect no radio surround couple vents cracked and a crack on the insterment cluster panel. all internal electronics work. slight dent in midle rear under the hatch glass. some minor rust spots on the moon roof and driver corner of hood. shifter is quite tite too clutch strong and syncros good.

So I was basicly asking so I can do a little more then basic tuneup when you buy a used car when I get it home. You know the change oil, plugs, wires, fule filter, brakes, cut rotors, alignment, tire balance, shifter gromets, bleed brakes, brake fluid. The basics
