Carbon Fiberhood for FC Avaliable

These carbon fiber hoods for the FC are not vented and not custom made and cannot utilize the stock attachments or front latch. You have the option of either Zeus clips or Hood pins. This hood also replaces the headlight covers, so headlights cannot pop up anymore. On my 86 GXL my headlights shine through the front lenses and I have had no problems with law enforcement. I don't have any pictures of the hoods, but you can call AWR at 1- 760-598-9782. The Fiberglass hood is 500. And the Carbon Fiber is 625. Plus shipping. These hoods are used primarily for SCCA Road Racing.

GOt any pics??

I dont think anybody is going to like not having your headlights pop up anymore. I mean you only need them to see at night and stuff.

Did you read the whole thing or just the part about carbonfiber. I don't have any pics but I'll call tomorrow and see if they can email me some. He said it is the same shape as the stock one and fits perfectly all around. If you really wanted to you could have a body shop cut out the areas for the headlights. A little extra cash but a nice look. Oh, by the way the fiberglass hood weighs 9 pounds and the carbonfiber hood weighs 7 pounds.

Thumbs down Thats not going to work

That hood is not practical. You would have to custom make brackets and a latch, plus have no headlights(I know they're still their but its not the same). For 625??? Thats a little far fetched unless you are trully just racing your car and could just use hood pins and no lights. I've seen and heard of guys making their own or getting someone to makem CF hoods for about that price that bolt on using the factory brackets and latch. Its just not for the average person using their car as a daily driver.

If it was cheap enough, I would consider buying it and simply cutting it so you can have the stock headlights. But $675 is not cheap enough.

Lightweight hoods arent exactly the thing you go out and buy to make your car perform better. Ok with $625 I could get a hood that saves like 30-40 pounds or I could get _______ & ______ & _____ not to mention ______.

I would MAYBE consider the FG one if I got in a wreck and messed up my hood but I dont plan on getting in a wreck.

No. These parts are made for race only cars. Very unpractical on a daily drivert not to mention they may be to thin for daily use but I could be wrong.

fprep has it correct AWR builds race cars and parts for race cars and is not in the street car business. Tony is an ex-IMSA mechanic of the year winner(Nissan GTP car) and makes some of the best performing and looking race cars out there. I have one of the flat FG hoods and a FG Turbo II hood. both are very light weight but are not what I would call perfect finish. A good body and paint person or shop could fix this but it is not a bolt on item. the popular carbon fiber hoods seen on alot of Hondas and such are not the lightest pieces around but they do bolt to the stock hardware. they are not built to be the lightest possible but to be "cool" looking. if you are looking for a very light weight part that will fit correctly and hold up to professional racing then call AWR and order one. if looking for a "trick looking" bolt on hood for your street car keep looking.

Thank you tims. Well put. And I just dont disappear turbosmoke. I didn't say I could get the hoods. I told people where to get them and how, so if you know how to use a phone you can get one. And I tried calling today but no one answered. So no I still don't have pics. Oh by the way this is the only CF hood I've been able to find without having one custom made for 800 bucks, so I say this is a pretty good deal. And no you would not have to custom make brackets, this hood was not designed to use brackets. You have the choice of Zeus clips or Hood pins. These hood were made for Road Racing (SCCA) not the street, but I being a person who doesn't care I would love to have this hood on my car with the hood pins. Thats my .02

There is a carbon fiber hood out there. Way out there to be exact. I tried previously to get several made for us but there was just way too much hassle involved to get several done. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my ride. So I didn't want to take the chance on wasting everyone's money. But the CF hood resides in Japan. They are already made. Cost for one is $1200 shipping already included. I e-mailed them two weeks ago and they said they could cut a deal if there was a group order. Any one interested? It's the T2 type.

It's not designed for street cars, so of course there's no provision for headlights. The cars running these hoods typically don't HAVE headlights.

'Course there's always that yellow plastic hood that comes with Jennifer Morrow in a bikini. How 'bout a group buy on that?
