As you could imagine, the dust caused from fiberglass is not a good thing to inhale. Carbon fiber is actually worse, since its more brittle its breaks into little particals easier. After working with CF, iv noticed little CF silvers in my hands, so small i couldnt feel them. Im sure if you inhaled a lot you would have problems later on.

The resins when wet are suposed to be pretty bad too. Epoxy more then polyester. All the bottles say to use in a ventilated area or have a respirator.

I don't disagree with that

If you look at the middle picture, you can see the ventilation system in there. It is like gale force winds in there due to that thing sucking so much air through the shop and out through those filters. Probably just EPA standards. I would be wearing a mask if I were doing it though. LOL

I don't know about that guy. He is just an employee there. I am friends with the Owner

He was pretty good at what he was doing though, so I wouldn't doubt he has been doing it for some time.

There are two ways that I know of that CF is made.&nbsp One is by flaming strands of poly(something) thread, which singe and burns to a crisp.&nbsp I forgot the other way, but I think it's something extruded.&nbsp What it comes to (if you've taken organic chem ) is that it's all carbon - about the same thing as charcoal.&nbsp I'm not saying you can inhale it, but it's pretty much inert and can't really hurt you.

Fiberglas, OTOH, is extruded glass.&nbsp It's about the same as inhaling piece of glass - not very safe, and glass cannot be broken down by the body.&nbsp At least, the carbon fibers can be somewhat broken down by the body.

I've never gotten the "carbon fiber itch", but "fiberglas itch" drive me up the wall!&nbsp Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl!

Yes - the containers have all the big warnings on them!

Yo,

My "professional" comment was genuine, it looks like a real shop, with real equipment and best of all...real hoods!

Not someone's garage/living room.

What were you using?
Or did something get damaged?
I've only seen CF "mats" that were woven.&nbsp Delicate handling by hand doesn't seem to cause any damage, and those fibers are pretty supple.

All PM's answered.

Progress is that they were waiting for their shipment of CF to come in (they used what they had left on a dune buggy body ) and that got here today. Should have updated pics this week, probably tomorrow or Wednesday. I can't wait!!!

Here are some more updated pics. We inspected the hood bases and took one back to our place to test fit it and to fit some hardware to it. Should have the N/A hood this week.

I can guarantee you all that these will become reality. He has the hardware to layout the first hood tomorrow and it should be ready 24-48 hours from there. They lay the CF skin in a seperate mold, then when it is dried, they bond it to the lower frame and house all of the hardware. These are going to be amazing If all goes well, we will be getting the first N/A hood this week and by the weekend we will have LOTS of pics and more info on what to do from there. I won't be posting any of that info here as to not violate any forum rules, but we will have all the necessary info on our site, and you can of course email me with any questions.

Guys, I just got off the phone with Dave. He picked up the NA CF hood tonight. In his words, "The looks and the fitment are ****!!"

He did say that the finish isn't overly glossy, and that if you're wanting that, then you can either rough it with 400 and clear it, or you can wet-sand it and buff it.

It was too dark by the time he got home, but pictures will be up tomorrow when it's light out.

Gentlemen, we have PRODUCT!!! WhoHoo!!!
