Question Carbon Fiber Hood..???

I'm having my 90 painted... and I got myself a aluminum hood for it, however the bodyshop says the hood is pointless to repair unless I want a entire layer of bondo. Looks like it was in a hail storm. A NEW hood, aluminum, from MAZDA, is $950+. So I figure go Carbon Fiber if I'm going to spend that much.

Anyone know a spot that sells plainjane carbon fiber hoods or MABEY one with a cowl.

I'm going to do a search now also. Thanks.

If you dont want to spend lots of money, just get a good condition used one. CF hoods IMO are useless most of the time compared to the aluminum ones. You save hardly any extra weight, and they dont make your car like go magically faster or turn better, most people just get them for looks.

you can just order one but would you rather spend 650 for a hood or spend somne time trying to find a used one for a fraction of that

Personally if i had the $ i'd go CF cuase i like it but thats just my opinion

I e-mailed the guy/s at SpeedMachinePerformance about making the hood without the scoop or flipping the scoop backwards which I shouldn't see being a problem since they say on their website they're making them inhouse and need 14 days+ to fabricate.

Has anyone ever bought a hood / delt with this place...?

Check ebay, and the F/S section under 2nd gen in this forum. They are known to appear there now and again...

If you want a sweet CF hood, go to Rotary Extreme and get the RE A one. But you are really going to have to pay.

Hey D, I am almost out of school, but I don't know if I am going to have Fridays off any time soon(I haven't had for a very long time). But hopefully I can get over there and help you out some.
