the carb swap question of the week!

ive searched and searched and searched the site for good solid facts on doing a carb "down grade" on my 88' 13b n/a with r/b header.

now i need to know what ALL needs to be done to the car in order for it to run and drive properly.

a list of what i do know so far>
-racingbeat holly carb kit for 6port 13b
-inline fuel pressure regulator or external pump turned down to 6psi max
-fuel injector plugs from racingbeat
-header heatshield(not required but im gonna do it anyways)

what i dont know is the best and most popular way of controlling ignition.

so please pipe in if im missing anything in the list, and what do to for ignition.

and no crap talking about "why down grade" or "fuel injection is so much better"

yea i know, ive read all the crap littered across the site, i just need to know what i dont.

thank you,
garrett

get a 12a distributor, msd 6a (or other cdi box), and take the ignitor out of your current leading coilpack. signal the msd with the dizzy and run it to the leading coil. if you want to keep the trailing just power up the ignitor on the dizzy but i prefer not to even use that junk.

works great!

im in the process of doing he same thing as you, yes the distributor just slides right in. my distributor has 2 vaccum diaphrams, not too shure where they are supposed to get vacuum from so they are both run to my lower intake manifold for now. i have a external low psi pump but havent instaled it yet (using regulator)
car runs great for 20 sec then dies every time even with feathering the gas. idk mabee my fuel pump shuts off for some reason.

a carbed Rx7 runs a Fuel pressure of about 6-12 psi..maybe that is why it Dies?..too MUCH fuel?

actually i did some reserch (who would have thought) apparentally the ecu notices that there is no signal from the maf and shuts off the fuel pump, so all i have to do is jump a wire to the hot side of the ign to the pump power.
correct me if im wrong. thats what i gatherd from the info
